Assistant/Associate/Professor of Management

LOCATION: 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ Baptist University – Hybrid/Hyflex PhD in Management Program

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As a full-time faculty member, the Professor of Management will be primarily responsible for teaching, chairing doctoral dissertations, and serving on doctoral committees for HyFlex/Hybrid/International student PhD programs. Faculty member will support the Chair in their areas of specialization within the PhD in Management program and assist in developing related courses. Additionally, faculty members are expected to have an authentic Christian faith that is evident in their personal interactions and activities, to be committed to a local church body, and to be a model for our students. Faculty will seek out mentoring relationships with students through dissertation committee assignments, conference presentations, and research publications with online/hybrid students or those designated by the School Dean.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: 

  1. Prepare and teach (21) semester hours each academic year as part of a 12-month contract.
  2. Keep required paperwork, including grades and attendance, submitting reports of these when requested
    1. Grades updated weekly on Blackboard
    2. Syllabus posted according to university policies and by the start of the term on Blackboard
    3. Final Grades (course grade for the 8-week session and including last date attended for failing grades) through Student Services – may also include Concurrent Student spreadsheet to Registrar’s Office
    4. Periodic grade and/or attendance checks requested by the Department of Student Success
  3. Abide by the accommodations sent by Title IX Coordinator and/or Disability Services Coordinator
  4. Maintain office hours for students through Zoom or phone.
  5. Be available online during the week, excluding vacation, holidays, and weekends.
  6. Dress professionally and appropriately for the tasks assigned.
  7. Assist the dean and faculty members in developing new courses/programs, reporting data, selecting textbooks, and developing syllabi.
  8. Serve on University, Faculty, and School Committees; assist with and attend graduations and school events and attend scheduled faculty/staff meetings and professional development activities.
  9. Maintain competence in the use of 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ’s adopted online teaching and retention management systems, including the satisfactory completion of all necessary annual training. These systems include
    1. Blackboard
    2. Colleague
  10. Advisement - Must be thoroughly familiar with degree requirements and matters of academic policy related to academic advisement and serve as a teacher and advisor to colleagues in your designated program of expertise.
  11. Service - Must be an active leader in the university committees as well as service to the community at large.
  12. Scholarly - Must have extensive involvement in professional and scholarly activities in the discipline.

 Additional Requirements: 

  1. Endorsement by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  2. Able to pass background checks.
  3. Able to travel to one weekend residency every eight-week session.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must hold an earned doctorate, the equivalent terminal degree, or an advanced degree in combination with appropriate certification and/or professional work experience in the areas of research methods/statistics.  

Experience and Knowledge: The applicant must have some experience in teaching at the graduate level or related academic experience, or an equivalent period in professional or work experience. Experience serving on dissertation chair committees preferred.

Work Environment: The work environment for this position is a standard office setting. Employees will work primarily at a desk or workstation, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.  Noise levels are generally moderate, with typical office sounds such as conversations and office machinery. 

In addition, the position may require teaching in a university online classroom setting. This environment involves direct interaction with students, delivering lectures, facilitating discussions, and managing classroom dynamics to maintain an effective learning atmosphere for Hy-Flex courses. Classroom conditions may vary, but typically students will attend a classroom with a projector or whiteboard that shows the instructor and/or course content being presented. Noise levels can fluctuate depending on class size and activity, and the role requires adaptability to engage students and maintain order in a collaborative academic setting.

Hours of Work: WBUonline - The official work week for full-time salaried employees is forty (40) hours. External campuses - Although full-time, nonexempt external campus employees are normally scheduled to work 37.75 hours per week, the official work week for full-time salaried employees is forty (40) hours. Normal work days on all campuses are Monday through Friday.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently sitting or standing;
  • Frequently flex upper trunk forward while sitting or standing;
  • Occasionally pull or push objects;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
  • Frequently reach at or below shoulder height, and occasionally reach above shoulder height.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.   If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide instructional or recruitment assistance to nearby external campuses.  Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
