STEAMROLLED X features large contemporary art prints, averaging about 5 feet, 3 inches by 3 feet, six inches. The process involves carving an image into a block of wood, rolling ink onto the image, followed by printing so only the parts that were not carved away are visible. It is a technique that relies on the natural wood grain to inform the style and energy of the carving as the artist commands negative space to provide high contrast and emotive textures. To print such a large woodcut onto paper, they drive over it with a steamroller, the kind of heavy-duty construction machinery used to level roads. The result is very striking, and each artist’s stylistic voice is unique.

Many of the prints are available to purchase with all proceeds go to the artist.
