Thanksgiving Happenings

The Thanksgiving holiday is just around the corner, and there are many ways to celebrate and just as many dishes to enjoy at the table.

With the Caf serving Thanksgiving-themed food on the 18th, it seemed like the perfect time to ask a classic question: What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving, and what are their favorite foods? Many students gave similar answers when it came to the dishes they look forward to most. Some favorites weren’t even the turkey or ham. In fact, most students mentioned the sides. Stuffing topped the list, with green bean casserole not far behind. Others said pumpkin or apple pie was their must-have dessert.

One of the most unique and exciting parts of Thanksgiving is that no two tables look exactly alike. Everyone has their favorite dishes and their favorite people to share them with. When students were asked where they planned to spend the break, the most popular answer by far was “home.” Many students use Thanksgiving break as a chance to see family and recharge before finals begin.

However, not everyone is able to travel. Some international students stay on campus during the break, and they are often provided a Thanksgiving meal by a local church or by 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ. It’s encouraging to know that students who remain on campus are still supported and cared for.

Regardless of how you’re spending this Thanksgiving, remember to take a moment to be thankful for the many blessings you’ve received. If there’s anything clear about 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ, it’s that people look out for one another. Take time to share what you did over the break and let your friends know one thing you’re grateful for this year.
