51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ celebrates Academic Excellence Weeks with campus-wide events

PLAINVIEW, TX — 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ Baptist University highlights student achievement, scholarship, and creativity during Academic Excellence Weeks, which begins today, April 20, on the Plainview campus.

The multi-day celebration, which continues through May 1, features presentations, performances, research showcases, and recognition ceremonies across multiple academic disciplines. Events are designed to honor both student accomplishment and faculty mentorship while giving the campus and community a closer look at the work taking place at 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ.

“Academic Excellence Weeks showcase the depth of learning taking place across our university and the commitment our students bring to their academic and professional goals,” said Dr. Cindy McClenagan, vice president of academic affairs. “These events also reflect the dedication of our faculty to guide and mentor students as they prepare to serve and lead in their fields.”

Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

Monday, April 20

  • 2–5 p.m. — School of Behavioral & Social Sciences hosts “Puff, Pass, or Prohibit: A Campus Conversation,” Regional Heritage Center auditorium at The Mabee, a collection of three on-campus museums
  • 7 p.m. — “Bridging 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ: Student Lecture Series,” Harral Memorial Auditorium (sponsored by Alpha Chi)

Tuesday, April 21

  • 12–1 p.m. — Mieth School of Nursing Celebration of Excellence, San Antonio Campus, Ben & Bertha Mieth School of Nursing
  • 2–3:30 p.m. — “Mind & Movement Symposium: Fuel Your Brain, Feed Your Game,” Van Howeling Education Complex, Room 203
  • 6–7:30 p.m. — Writer’s Symposium, J.E. and L.E. Mabee Learning Resources Center Atrium (refreshments at 5:45 p.m.)

Academic Excellence Weeks serve as a culminating celebration of the academic year at 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ, highlighting the work of students across disciplines while reinforcing the university’s commitment to faith-based learning and academic rigor. Community members, alumni, and prospective students are encouraged to attend and experience the depth of scholarship taking place on campus.
