Alumni Association honors faculty, staff at Employee Awards Luncheon

PLAINVIEW, TX — 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ Baptist University Alumni Association recognized two longtime employees for their dedicated service during the annual Employee Awards Luncheon held Thursday, April 9.

Presented by Jeffrey Vera, Director of Alumni Relations, the Distinguished Faculty Service Award and Distinguished Staff Service Award honor employees who have served the Plainview campus for at least 10 years and are nominated by their peers each spring.

Dr. Elise Adamson, Professor of Mathematics and Physics, was named the recipient of the 2025–2026 Distinguished Faculty Service Award. Adamson was recognized for her sustained commitment to teaching excellence and her impact on generations of 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ students through her work in the classroom and beyond.

Sandra Nixon, an Administrative Assistant in Graduate Studies, received the 2025–2026 Distinguished Staff Service Award. Nixon was honored for her years of faithful service supporting students and faculty through her work in Graduate Studies, helping ensure accuracy and care in the university’s academic processes.

“These awards reflect the deep appreciation of our alumni for the faculty and staff who shape the 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ experience,” Vera said during the presentation. “Both Dr. Adamson and Ms. Nixon exemplify the dedication and service in their roles in shaping students through both instruction and mentorship.”

The Alumni Association awards are distinct from other service and excellence recognitions presented during the luncheon and specifically highlight individuals whose long-term contributions have made a lasting impact on the university community.
