PLAINVIEW, TX — Two student teams in 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ Baptist University’s School of Business earned Global Top 100 rankings in the Business Strategy Game (BSG) for the week of Sept. 14–20, adding to a strong year for the university in the international business simulation.
The teams, Aevora Athletics and Benevolent Souls, are part of MKTG 4330, taught by Dr. Leon Chickering, adjunct professor of business. Together, they earned five placements among the top 100 student-managed companies worldwide across three performance measures.
The achievement came against a field of more than 5,000 teams from universities around the world, placing 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ students among the elite performers in one of business education’s most competitive simulations.
“Seeing two teams from the same class reach the Global Top 100 in one week says a great deal about the students’ work,” Chickering said. “They have to consider how decisions in marketing, production, and finance affect one another, then adjust their strategies as the competition changes.”
Benevolent Souls ranked 69th worldwide with a stock price of $203.63 and 74th in earnings per share at $8.12. Its overall game-to-date score of 106.5 tied for 99th. Aevora Athletics ranked 88th with a stock price of $177.29 and tied for 89th in earnings per share at $7.38.
In BSG, student teams manage virtual athletic footwear companies competing in a global market. They make decisions about production, marketing, sales, and finances, then see how those choices affect their companies’ results. Each Monday, the simulation publishes worldwide Top 100 lists for overall score, earnings per share, return on average equity, and stock price.
The latest rankings follow a No. 1 global tie in March for Dynamic Sole, another 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ team coached by Chickering. That team earned a perfect overall score of 110.0 in its final week of competition.
