WBU Piano Competition

8th Annual WBU Piano Competition

You are invited to participate in the 8th Annual WBU Piano Competition on Saturday, January 16, 2027, in Harral Auditorium on WBU's Plainview campus.

Eligibility Grades 6-12

All students in grades 6-12 who are currently studying piano are eligible to compete for cash prizes. The competition will be conducted in two divisions.

Junior Division

Grades 6-8

Pianists should present up to 10 minutes of music.

Up to $500 in cash prizes

Senior Division

Grades 9-12

Pianists should present up to 15 minutes of music.

Up to $1,000 in cash prizes

Featured Composer Prize

Claude Debussy Prize

As part of the 2027 competition, a special Claude Debussy prize will be awarded to the pianist with the best performance of an original composition by the featured composer.

Competition Guidelines

Repertoire Requirements

Grades 6-8

Present up to 10 minutes of music representing at least two (2) historical eras.

  • One piece must be from the Baroque or Classical era.
  • One piece must be from the 19th-21st century repertoire.
  • No more than three (3) pieces may be performed.
  • No more than one (1) movement of a multi-movement work may be submitted.

Grades 9-12

Present up to 15 minutes of music representing at least two (2) historical eras.

  • One piece must be from the Baroque or Classical era.
  • One piece must be from the 19th-21st century repertoire.
  • No more than three (3) pieces may be performed.
  • No more than one (1) movement of a multi-movement work may be submitted.

Ready to Compete?

Complete the registration form below for each pianist. Your completed registration and $20 registration fee must be received in the WBU offices no later than:

Monday, January 11, 2027

Incomplete submissions will not be eligible for entry in the competition. Credit card payment is available below. You may also send a check or money order by mail.
