PLAINVIEW, TX — 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ Baptist University welcomes David Favela, Ed.D., as Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Leadership. He also will serve as an Assistant Professor of Leadership.

Dr. Favela comes to 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ from previous roles at West Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University. He will be based at the Plainview campus, where he will administer and teach in the Doctor of Strategic Leadership program.

“We look forward to building on the good work already established in this area and watching our new doctorate degree thrive,” said Dr. Karen Beth Strovas, Dean of the School of Humanities and Leadership.

The Doctor of Strategic Leadership, in its second year as a program, is designed for new and experienced professionals seeking to transform their workplace or community. The program emphasizes ethical leadership, strategic decision-making, applied research, team building, and organizational change within a Christ-centered academic framework.

Students may pursue concentrations tailored to their professional goals, including leadership in Christian ministry, education (K-12 or higher education), humanities and culture, nursing, and—beginning August 2026—athletic administration. The program is structured to accommodate working professionals through flexible course delivery while maintaining rigorous academic standards.

WBU’s School of Humanities and Leadership also offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in leadership areas, among other disciplines. Additional information about the Doctor of Strategic Leadership is available at /academics/schools/school-of-humanities-and-leadership/dsl.htm .
