Planning for your career

Students and alumni have free access to , an outstanding web-based career-planning service. The MyMajors mission is to proactively help students create a clear pathway to complete their degree. With The College Majors Assessment, MyMajors guides students and gives direction that aligns with their academic achievement, aptitude, work interests, and personal preferences. Students in the right major are more likely to enroll, persist, and graduate on time.

The Career Center has gathered resources available to help you get all the necessary materials and skills together before it's time to hit the streets on a job search. The following can help you prepare for the task of finding that dream job.

 

Resume and Cover Letters:

The Pioneer Career Center partners with 51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ's Multidisciplinary Tutorial Services for assistance with reviewing your resume and providing helpful feedback for current and former students. Appointments can be scheduled in person on the Plainview campus or via Zoom or phone. You may also find the following resources helpful:

• for alumni refreshing their resumes
• Resume workshop handouts and examples
• on visually effective resumes
• on creating strong resumes that pass computer filtration
• Professional email skills

MOCK INTERVIEWS:

The Pioneer Career Center is happy to offer mock interviews for students or alumni who want to brush up on those skills and get the experience of a live interview with some honest but constructive feedback afterward. Those are available in person on the Plainview campus or via Zoom for alumni in any location. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:

51Æ·²èÔ¼ÅÚ has partnered with Upkey to provide additional resources via their helpful modules. These include a resume builder, career creation course, and a pitch coach that helps you perfect your "elevator speech" for networking and interviews.

  New modules coming soon include a branding expert that can help you create your own professional image and links to access top internships and jobs nationwide.It's free to use, so visit and learn more. Sign up with an email and password of your choosing.

Upkey also offers a Virtual Internship Program, an opportunity to build your skills and work with reputable companies to give yourself an edge for the job search after graduation. The six-week program is open to students of all ages regardless of where you are located... it's VIRTUAL after all!
